The Roots Lampoon Michele Bachmann with “Lyin’ Ass Bitch” Snarky Walk-On SongLate Night with Jimmy Fallon
Everybody has their own opinion. Sometimes, holding it back hurts so bad it’s like it could be jumping out of your flesh at any time. That apparently was the case for The Roots on Monday night as Republican Presidential candidate Michele Bachmann made an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

As is their usual wont, The Roots chose to introduce the special guest with a song that highlights a particular characteristic of said guest. In this particular case they chose Fishbone’s “Lying Ass Bitch.”

This is nothing new from The Roots although it may be the first time they called a presidential candidate a bitch. The Roots have a history of slyly mocking the guests as they stroll on to the set. A couple years ago, Questlove (AKA ?uestlove) ran down some of their best hits with Rolling Stone. Here’s just three with an explanation from Questlove:

Questlove Tweets about Michele Bachmann Lying Ass Bitch Fishbone SongJohn McCain — The Beach Boys’ “Barbara Ann”

Although I was gonna not wear my political sleeves on the show so much, I was not going to give in and miss my chance to have fun clowning McCain. Actually, I was pretty nice about it. My initial choice really drew the line and even I decided to let it go (“Hip-Hop Hooray” from Naughty by Nature — and if you really research and Google why you will understand why I decided not to do that mean of a walk on).

Mancow Muller — James Brown’s “Talkin’ Loud & Sayin’ Nothing”

‘Nuff said.

Ashlee Simpson — Milli Vanilli’s “Girl You Know It’s True”

What made this classic was the fact we did the VH1 Behind the Music version of the song in which Vanilli explained that the broken loop kept going “Girl, you know it’s … girl, you know it’s …” when they got busted for lip-synching in concert — and that is how we did it verbatim.

So Monday was Michele Bachmann’s turn. Obviously unaware of the song choice, she did seem surprised by the songs ska style, which, if you’re familiar with Fishbone, involves a lot of chootspah (god that never gets old!). Take a look  and queue outrage in 5-4-3-2-… (rightly so?)
