Joe Biden: Not The Average Joe

Once again us political writers have an opportunity to write about brazen political mishaps. This time is it regarding Vice President Joe Biden. While speaking at a fundraising in Washington DC Mr. Biden made a statement about how the Republican candidates “don’t know what it means to be middle class.” The witty Vice President (VP) also said “These guys don’t have a sense of the average folks out there”.

Good point…perhaps…if that speech were not given to a group of people whom just paid $10,000 dollars a head to attend. I mean, how much of clue about being “in the middle” could you have if you can just shell out $10,000 dollars to eat…one meal…and bring friends!

Although, VP Joseph Robinette “Joe” Biden Jr. had very humble beginnings in Scranton, Pennsylvania (his father had been financially well off before Joe was born but had suffered multiple financial defeats by the time Biden was born) that does not necessarily equate to the audience he was addressing understanding first hand the magnitude of the speech he was making.

Moreover making a speech that is out of touch, about a group of people being out of touch, is a bit…well…out of touch (make sense? It shouldn’t?).

In the end Mr. Biden gave a strong heartfelt and truth based speech. It simple was not the correct topic to address in front of a group of people so well off, that they paid more to hear Joe Biden give that speech than the “average Joe” pays monthly on his mortgage.
